LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- The Bureau of Land Management is proposing a year-round ban on using fireworks and other explosive devices on all land it manages in Colorado.

Current BLM rules prohibit using and possessing fireworks only on developed campgrounds and on a seasonal basis when there is high fire danger.

The agency says the proposed change would bring its rules in line with other land management agencies in Colorado as they try toprevent wildfires.

Authorized personnel performing their official duties would be exempt.

The public can submit comments on the proposal through Aug. 9.
