FRUITA, Colo. (AP) -- The National Park Service is proposing to increase entrance and camping fees at the Colorado National Monument in Mesa County.

The Park Service announced Tuesday it wants to raise fees for seven-day passes from $7 to $10 per car and from $4 to $5 per person. Fees for large vans and buses would remain the same.

Campground fees would double from $10 to $20 per night. The Park Service says campground fees have not risen in 15 years.

The agency is proposing the fees begin for the 2011 season. The public can comment on the proposal through June 30.

Colorado National Monument receives more than 715,000 visitors annually.
