Springs police arrest man wanted in Pueblo

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado Springs Police Department assisted the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office on Thursday and arrested Matthew Adam Barnes, 31,  for outstanding warrants.

Barnes was arrested in the 2900 block of Sage Street in Colorado Springs.

Barnes was indicted by a Pueblo County Grand Jury on January 26 for his involvement in the December 10, 2009 homicide of Robert Piserchio in Pueblo County.  

Barnes also had two warrants out of El Paso County for failure to register as sex offender. 

Barnes was transported to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Investigations division without incident. 

“We appreciate the assistance of the officers at the Colorado Springs Police Department.  It was extremely important that this individual be apprehended for the safety of the community and the closure of this heinous crime," Sheriff Kirk Taylor said.
