BRECKENRIDGE, COLO (AP) -- BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) -- Dozens of volunteers and an Army helicopter rescued two snowboarders caught in an avalanche on Tenmile Peak.

Officials say the two men were skiing down a backcountry slope Saturday when they triggered the slide. One of them injured his leg, but they were able to use a cell phone to call for help.

Summit County Rescue Group team leader Charles Pitman says three dozen rescue volunteers responded, and they used both snowmobiles and skis to reach the pair.

He says rescuers moved them down the mountain to an area where an Army Black Hawk helicopter could get low enough to retrieve a 31-year-old injured snowboarder and his friend.
