DENVER (AP) -- The Department of Defense and the Colorado health department have reached an agreement on monitoring chemical weapons in Pueblo, Colo.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says the two sides reached an agreement Monday in the lawsuit against the Army. It sought more frequent and sensitive tests on 2,600 tons of mustard agent at the Pueblo Chemical Depot.

Details of the agreement have not been released, pending federal approval. The Army agreed to fence off areas where the chemical weapons are stored and to install charcoal filters to clean air released from the storage containers.

The Army is building a plant to destroy the mustard. Calls to the chemical depot were not returned.
