COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO -- Police say suspected sexual predator, 30-year old David Lawrence, lived at Aspen Creek Apartments on Brookside in Colorado Springs.
FOX21 News talked with a neighbor who says he felt something "wasn't right."
“I have seen young girls come in and out of the apartment, I can't say how many. I just can say I've seen some going in and out and they've had little parties up there,” said a neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous.
Police say the one victim they have identified is a 13-year old girl and believe Lawrence would give her alcohol, marijuana and methamphetamine. Investigators say he sexually assaulted the victim at least 20 different times. Police say the girl would run away from home and stay at Lawrence's house.
Now police are hoping more victims will come forward.
“One of the real issues you have involving juveniles who have been sexually assaulted or victimized is that they are embarrassed, and they're afraid to come forward and report that information and they feel like somehow they're responsible. But I want to say to those folks they have a safe haven here and they will be treated with the greatness of kindness,” said Lt. David Whitlock, Colorado Springs Police Department.
Detectives say doctors recovered Lawrence’s sperm from the victim.
“The truth of the matter is with younger children, even if they say they want to it still damages them for the rest of their lives,” said the anonymous neighbor.
Police are asking for anyone who knows information about David Lawrence -- or if you are a victim of his abuse or know someone who is -- to come forward and call police at 719-444-7000.
