DENVER (AP) — Police are investigating the third bus-related fatality in the Denver area in three days after a bus in suburban Aurora ran over a man who died later at a hospital.
Police say the accident took place at 5:41 p.m. Monday. They say witnesses didn't know how the 78-year-old victim wound up under the vehicle.
Regional Transportation District spokesman Scott Reed tells The Denver Post that the driver was taken in for questioning and a drug test. Police have impounded the bus.
On Saturday, another RTD bus ran a red light and struck two vehicles in Denver, killing two people and injuring a dozen others, including the bus driver.
A worker contracted through Veolia Transportation of Lombard, Ill., was driving that bus.
Investigators are considering charges against the driver.
