CANON CITY, COLO. -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Colorado 24, near milepost 225 just after midnight Friday morning.
A 1999 GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound on Colorado 24, when the driver lost control and drove off the right side of the roadway.
The vehicle rolled 2 ½ times, ejecting the driver. While the vehicle was rolling, it collided with a fence before coming to rest on its top.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Everett Calvin of Buena Vista.
Calvin was not wearing a seatbelt and died as a result of his injuries.
Toxicology tests are pending and the incident remains under investigation.
