COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) seeks the public's help in locating two women who are suspects in multiple cases of credit card fraud.
One of the suspects was seen this week, on March 24, in the Colorado Springs area at three different banks.
Police say banks and credit union in the Denver metro area have experienced a pattern of theft involving these suspects.
The women are described as in their mid-twenties and nicely dressed.
The theft pattern is that they enter a financial institution and present a credit card to the teller and ask for a cash advance. As the teller begins the process, the suspect will offer to telephone the card issuer for an override code. She is instead calling a pharmacy prescription fill phone number.
The woman then turns the phone back over to the teller and asks that the redial button be pushed. A recording of a voice announces a verification code. Sometimes the teller is fooled and the cash issued to the suspect.
The women are known to drive a late model silver Ford Edge with temporary tags. They may also be traveling with two other persons.
An employee at one bank also observed “Jasmine” tattooed on one suspect's lower back.
Anyone with information on these suspects is asked to please contact CSPD at 719-444-7000.
