DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado attorney general has requested disciplinary action for a doctor accused of stabbing a nurse.

KUSA-TV in Denver reports Attorney General John Suthers filed a complaint with the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners saying Grady Michael Holder has a history of alcohol abuse that constitutes unprofessional conduct.

Witnesses told Lone Ridge police that Holder was hospitalized for detoxification Feb. 13 when he stabbed the nurse.

Holder's medical license has been suspended. He is free on $200,000 bond but could face criminal charges. He no longer practices at Harvard Park Medical Associates in Denver.

Holder's attorney, Gary Lozow, told KUSA he would provide information to prosecutors about Holder's medical condition that would explain the incident.
