COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- At 8 a.m. on Friday, the City of Colorado Springs entered into a Level One, Partial Callout. Level One is considered a standard snow event and, as needed, city staff plows and applies anti-skid material to the streets.
A Level One, Partial Callout will involve as many people per shift as operations dictate. The operation may consist of a portion or all of the designated snow routes impacted by this event.
The primary and secondary routes cover the major arterials, which consist of streets leading to hospitals, schools, major places of employment, and key collector streets entering residential areas. During this event, city crews will be applying anti-skid and/or salt, and plowing these routes.
Several areas of Colorado Springs are heavily affected at this time due to icy/slushy conditions. Because of potentially hazardous conditions, officials urge motorists to use caution and allow plenty of extra time to reach their destinations.
For more detailed information, citizens may contact one of the following individuals at the Street Division, 719-385-5934. Please allow for delayed response due to heavy call volumes: Bard Lower or Ken Winckler, operations managers.
