GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A wind farm in northeastern Colorado with 273 turbines is looking at adding more.

The Cedar Creek wind farm in Weld County generates about 300 megawatts, or enough electricity to serve roughly 90,000 homes.

David Gonzalez of BP Wind Energy says plans call for adding up to 127 turbines with a generating capacity of up to 300 megawatts on 30,000 acres east of the existing turbines.

About 250 workers would work on the construction, which BP Wind Energy hopes to start this summer. Twelve to 14 permanent workers would be needed once the turbines are operating.

The county planning commission on Tuesday approved the proposed expansion. County commissioners also must approve it.
