PUEBLO, COLO. -- The person who robbed the Save-A-Lot, 1110 Bonforte Blvd., on Jan. 31, 2010, remains on the loose and Pueblo Crime Stoppers asks for the public's help in finding the thief.
Police say it was an armed robbery that happened just before 10 p.m. when a janitor in the building was confronted by a male suspect, who apparently had been hiding in the break room.
The janitor stated the suspect was pointing a .357 revolver at him and demanded money. The victim stated he knew the gun was real because he could see the bullets in the cylinder.
It appears the suspect believed the money was kept in a safe located in the front office. The suspect ordered the victim to load the safe and a computer monitor into a large trash bin and wheel it out the front of the store.
The victim stated he saw a truck, possibly a blue single cab Chevy S-10, in the parking lot, which the janitor believed to be the suspect’s ride. The janitor stated something must have spooked the suspect because the suspect took off running eastbound through the parking lot, leaving the safe and monitor behind.
The suspect is described as being in his early twenties, possibly 21 to 23 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, thin build, thin goatee, and wearing a dark blue beanie cap and a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. Photos of the suspect are posted here on this page.
Officers recovered the safe and monitor.
