Rosendo Garza is on parole supervision
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- In accordance with Colorado law, the Colorado Department of Corrections has notified the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) that Rosendo Garza will be on parole supervision and has moved to the Colorado Springs Police Department’s jurisdiction.
Garza is a sex offender whose past behavior has led him to be labeled a “sexually violent predator” (SVP) by the court/parole board. Accordingly, CSPD made “community notification” as required by law and undertaken the following tasks, among others:
- Notified the D.O.C. Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team.
- Reviewed and confirmed Garza’s residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes.
- Made personal and/or mail notifications to neighbors and businesses deemed to be in the immediate area.
- Briefed patrol personnel on Garza’s status, history, appearance, residence, employment and vehicles.
- Notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.
- Provided an online video that describes the SVP community notification process, SVP information and additional resources for the community.

CSPD will also ensure that Garza registers as a sex offender and understands his responsibilities as such.
Garza’s criminal history reveals that in El Paso County he was convicted of attempted sexual assault of a child by one in a position of trust in 2001 (the victim was a 12-year-old female), and failure to register as a sex offender in 2007.
In the state of Texas Garza was convicted of theft, assault, burglary and driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
Garza is on parole and is residing at 3333 El Paso Place #11, in Colorado Springs, CO 80917. He is described as a Hispanic male, 48 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 151 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Garza is one of 148 SVPs registered with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations who reside in communities throughout Colorado.
