COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorao Springs Police Department responded to report of someone attempting to carjack vehicles at the intersection of Airport and Academy boulevards on Saturday morning when the female policer officer on the case was allegedly knocked to the ground and struck on the head by the suspect.
The officer shot the suspect, Mackey Lee Johnson, with her Taser® but he was able to pull the probes from his chest, according to police and ran from the scene.
Johnson, 38, was described as a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall. He attempted to run from the scene after trying to take the Taser® from the officer.
Additional police arrived on scene and again Tased® the suspect, and took him into custody.
Johnson was booked on first-degree assault on a police officer, attempting to disarm a police officer and resisting arrest. The suspect was also charged with attempted robbery and aggravated motor vehicle theft for an attempted carjacking prior to police arrival.
It is suspected that the suspect was under the influence of possible narcotics, according to police.
