DENVER (AP) -- A man accused of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams has opened his defense with a relative saying she saw the defendant soon after the shooting.

A cousin of 26-year-old Willie Clark told jurors that she saw Clark not long after Williams was shot in his limosuine on New Year's Day 2007. The woman says she saw Clark soon after Williams was shot at a different nightclub. She also said Clark was in a different car than the one authorities say contained the shooter.

Clark faces first-degree murder and other charges in the cornerback's slaying. Prosecutors rested their case Thursday. Clark still has not said whether he plans to testify in his defense.

The trial is expected to last another week.
