COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO -- Drivers should be happy to know some of those potholes around town are getting filled.
Since Jan. 1, crews have received reports for 601 pothole locations. Early spring is when roads develop most of their potholes in Colorado, which are caused by the expansion and contraction of water. And that mainly happens during winter months when temperatures are below freezing.
Nine full-time crews will be repairing potholes from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday – Thursday starting March 3 until March 11.
“We're out here for them to fix the potholes, please watch out for us, and be careful around us,” said Chuck Johnson, crew member.
Those who want to report a pothole can leave a message on the Pothole Hotline: 385-6808 or send an e-mail to streetdivision@springsgov.com
When reporting a pothole, callers should provide detailed information such as street name, direction of traffic flow (north bound, south bound, etc.), nearby cross streets, landmarks such as nearby buildings, side of the street, location in the street and distance from the curb.
Due to the huge influx of calls expected, citizens should not expect a personal reply to their requests.
