LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Pieces of spent artillery shells have been found in a suburban Denver park, and officials are looking for other remnants that might be there.

The debris was found on Green Mountain open space in Lakewood.

Tracie White of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said Wednesday the debris doesn't pose a threat, but it may indicate that dangerous unexploded shells are there.

Officials say the National Guard used the area as a firing range for artillery at Camp George West in Golden in the 1930s. The exact area isn't known.

The health department says the Colorado Army National Guard will investigate the area to see what should be done.
