DENVER (AP) -- An environmental group says Colorado has created thousands of jobs with legislation requiring renewable energy, but Republicans are questioning the long-term impact on the state's economy.
A study released Tuesday by Environment Colorado says a bill that would again increase the requirement for renewable energy would create more jobs over the next 10 years, but only 152 would be for two years or more.
Environmentalists say renewable energy projects have already created 17,000 jobs in Colorado. Critics say the only way to sustain the industry is with subsidies and increasing energy standards.
