DENVER (AP) -- Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn has announced he will seek a third term in Congress and is warning that America is in danger from big government and big spending.

Lamborn's announcement, made Tuesday, was expected.

He represents the state's most conservative district, anchored by Colorado Springs, and so far has no Democratic challenger.

Lamborn says smaller government is "our only hope, if we want America to keep her premier position in the world."

Lamborn won re-election in 2008 with 60 percent of the vote. According to federal election reports, Lamborn had more than $110,000 cash on hand for his re-election as of Dec. 31.
