GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) -- A woman who pleaded guilty to helping her husband escape to Mexico from a western Colorado jail has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Forty-eight-year-old Marilynne Johnson was sentenced Monday. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit escape.
Authorities say she was the getaway driver for 42-year-old Shane Johnson, who escaped from the Mesa County Jail in September 2008. Court records say he used a hacksaw blade to cut through the ceiling of an exercise yard, then slid down an outside wall on bed sheets tied together.
The couple were arrested in January 2009 in Baja California, Mexico. Shane Johnson remains in custody in Mexico, awaiting sentencing on burglary convictions.
Mesa County officials say they don't know when he will be returned to Grand Junction.
