HUGO, Colo. (AP) -- Officers have arrested a former nurse accused of brandishing two handguns at Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo and asking for treatment at the emergency room.

Lincoln County sheriff's officials say the 43-year-old man entered the hospital around 4:45 a.m. Monday. Authorities negotiated with him to turn over the guns. He was arrested, and no one was hurt. The man's name wasn't released.

Hospital CEO Herman Schreivogel says the man had worked at the hospital for 12 years but left about two weeks ago. Schreivogel wouldn't disclose why the man left.

Schreivogel said the man was suicidal. Hospital staff checked him after he reported having a kidney stone, before he was taken to jail.
