DENVER (AP) -- President Barack Obama took some good-natured ribbing from the audience when he misidentified Gov. Bill Ritter as the "terrific governor of California." For the record, Ritter is governor of Colorado.

Obama's gaffe at a fundraiser for Sen. Michael Bennet caused laughter as Obama quickly caught his mistake Thursday. "Colorado, sorry," he said according to a White House transcript of his speech released Friday. "Listen, East Coast time, it's past my dinner," he added.

About 400 people attended the private event at The Sheraton Hotel where he made the gaffe.

Bennet's campaign manager Craig Hughes says Obama's visit Thursday raised between $650,000 and $700,000 at two events for Bennet. About 2,700 people attended a public event at Denver's Fillmore Auditorium.
