DENVER (AP) -- Colorado lawmakers have begun slashing jobs and state services in an effort to cut another $475 million from this year's budget.
The House began a marathon session on Wednesday, taking up 31 bills that will cut every sector of state government as they work to cut $1.5 billion over the next two years.
This is the second round of budget balancing on this year's budget. On Tuesday, lawmakers approved and sent to the governor bills that would raise $116 million by eliminating tax breaks, imposing a 2.9 percent state sales tax on things including candy and soda, downloaded software and pesticides.
