COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The American Red Cross Pikes Peak Chapter reminds the public that the deadline to submit nominations for its Hometown Heroes award is just a few days away.
The deadline is Monday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m.
ARC officials say its Hometown Heroes event "grew out of a desire to develop an event that is closely related to the mission of the American Red Cross -- responding in times of emergency. Our annual Hometown Heroes Dinner honors that longstanding tradition of heroism by recognizing local individuals who have made a difference through their individual acts of courage."
Nominations categories are: Adult, Youth, Military, Animal, Community Service, and Community Hero. Nominees must have responded to a situation with an act of courage, extraordinary compassion, or life-saving actions.
* The events must have occurred in the last 18 months
* The nominee must live in one of the 18 counties supported by the Pikes Peak Chapter (El Past, Pueblo, Teller, Fremont, Elbert, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Crowley, Custer, Chaffee, Huerfano, Otero, Bent, Prowers, Las Animas, or Baca)
The dinner honoring the chosen individuals is set for April 2 at the Antlers Hilton hotel, 4 S. Cascade Ave.
