Friends prayed and rememberd David Hames Wednesday night.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO -- At Wednesday night's service, friends of David Hames prayed and honored a man they say was an amazing husband, father and friend.
“What a tremendous friend he was to me and to the men that we were together with the 2 1/2 years and how much he added to our lives," said Tony Metcalf, family friend.
Over the last few weeks those who knew Hames clung to hope Hames would come out of the rubble alive. But on Monday, family friends say they received word from a number of sources that his remains had been found. Tuesday the State Department confirmed the grim news.
“This afternoon red balloons rose above Garden of the Gods as Renee's sons released these in David's honor. Renee continues to process David's death by choosing to worship the Lord her God in the midst of her pain and sorrow,” said Tosha Williams, family friend.
Friends of the family say it's now time to remember all the memories and good times he gave to so many people.
“For us, our intention now is to honor David's legacy and we really believe as a church, it is important that we declare that David will be missed, there's nothing that we can do to bring him back but we're going to do everything we can to remember him and we love him very much,” said Pastor Kelly Williams.
