COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A 6-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd mix named Hyler is looking for a home.

He is a sweet boy who rides well in the car.

Hyler had a microchip and tags when he was brought to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR), but the owner's contact information was not updated.

The shelter was unable to get in touch with them, and now the dog is hoping another family will adopt him.

Adoption fee is only $43 thanks to a kind donor.

The humane society is providing the following information about licensing laws to pet owners:

* City and county ordinances require that all dogs be inoculated against rabies.

* Dogs that reside in the county's designated dog control areas must also be licensed within 30 days after the dog becomes 4 months old.

* Animals are required to wear their issued tags at all times.

* Licenses for residents of Colorado Springs and El Paso County may be obtained from the humane society.

* A current rabies certificate must be presented to obtain a license and discounts are offered to spayed or neutered animals.

* The license is valid one or three years from date of issue and is not transferable.

* Please notify the humane society of any change in ownership or address, or in the event of your pet's death.

City Law:

It shall be the duty of every person who owns or keeps within the city any dog or cat to maintain current inoculation with antirabies vaccine. (6.8.102)

Except as otherwise provided, it shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep any dog or cat over the age of 4 months without obtaining a license. (6.8.103)

County Law:

It shall be the duty of every person who owns, harbors, possesses or controls any dog or cat within Colorado Springs or El Paso County to have such dog or cat inoculated at the age of 4 months by licensed veterinarian. (Reg. NO XI)

Every person who owns a dog more than 4 months old within the designated dog control area of El Paso County shall obtain a license therefore. (Res. No. 78-1346, Sec, 3A and 3D)
