GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado prosecutor has agreed not to seek the death penalty against a British poker champion accused of killing his wife and dumping her body after a trip to Dinosaur National Monument.
Marcus Bebb-Jones is in custody in his native England and is fighting extradition to stand trial in Colorado for the murder of Sabrina Bebb-Jones. The wife was last seen in 1997; a Garfield County rancher found her skull in 2004.
District Attorney Martin Beeson has agreed not to seek the death penalty. England bans the death penalty, and by treaty with the
United States, it won't extradite a suspect here unless the death penalty is taken off the table.
Bebb-Jones and his wife were living in Grand Junction, Colo., at the time of her disappearance.
