DENVER (AP) -- Former managers of the Colorado Humane Society won't be allowed to open more shelters under an agreement with the state.

The Colorado Humane Society came under fire in 2008. The state sued the charity, saying it mismanaged funds and euthanized animals to make room for more adoptable pets.

The settlement announced Wednesday settles the state's lawsuit.

Robert Warren and Mary C. Warren were barred in a state settlement from operating or managing charities for 10 years. They can't own an animal shelter for the next five years.

Another employee, Stephanie L. Gardner, was barred from operating a charity for at least two years and barred from operating an animal shelter for one year.
