LEADVILLE, Colo. (AP) -- Leadville authorities say two people are injured after an explosion at a former Coca Cola bottling plant triggered a fire and the closure of the highway south of town.
Lake County Sheriff's deputy Steve James says one person was in critical condition when he was flown to a hospital while another was treated locally. James told the Summit Daily News that fire officials believe the building has extensive damage and "will be a total loss."
The fire was reported at about 3:11 p.m. Friday.
It wasn't immediately known what caused the explosion.
The former Coca Cola building now included an auto repair shop, a towing company and a masonry business.
Officials closed U.S. Highway 24 about two miles south of town.
Leadville is about 75 miles southwest of Denver.
