DENVER (AP) -- Denver police say an estimated 30,000 people participated in Denver's 25th annual parade honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
The parade starts each year at City Park in the morning and ends at the Civic Center. Attendees this year included Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, U.S. Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet, and Gov. Bill Ritter.
About 20,000 people participated in the parade last year, which happened a day before Barack Obama was sworn in as president.
The event is called a "marade" because it's a combination march and parade.
King's birthday was declared a state holiday on 1984.
