DENVER (AP) -- Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper says he will run for Colorado governor.

Hickenlooper, a Democrat, will be seeking the party nomination.

The current governor, Bill Ritter, announced last week that he won't seek another term. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar -- a former Colorado U.S. senator -- said last week he would not seek the governorship.

Republicans seeking the GOP nomination include former Rep. Scott McInnis and Dan Maes, an Evergreen businessman.
