DENVER (AP) — A man accused of hitting a bicyclist while driving drunk on Interstate 70 in Jefferson County faces up to nine years in prison, now that he has pleaded guilty to three charges. Fifty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Scott Detlefs pleaded guilty Thursday to vehicular assault — driving under the influence. He also pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and one count of child abuse. He was arrested Aug. 16 after authorities say he struck a man riding his bicycle along the onramp from Colorado Highway 74 to eastbound I-70. The man was seriously injured. Detlefs is scheduled to be sentenced April 9. Denver prosecutors handled the case because the victim is a Jefferson County public defender. (Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
