COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police arrested William Brooks, 46, Wednesday night in the 400 block of east Columbia Street after being called to the home on report of a domestic violence incident.
Officers discovered Brooks had poured gasoline throughout the house, including in the living room on the Christmas tree, and the bedroom. After pouring the gasoline he allegedly attempted to start the house on fire.
Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to ensure the home was not going to be a fire hazard. They determined the residence and surrounding homes were safe.
Brooks was taken into custody and booked into the Criminal Justice Center on domestic violence charge of criminal attempted first-degree arson.
