DENVER (AP) -- The two Republicans in the Colorado governor's race say they would take another look at oil and gas regulations approved on the Democratic incumbent's watch.
Evergreen businessman Dan Maes told The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction Monday that he would quickly try to abolish the rules if elected. A spokesman for Scott McInnis says the candidate would consider doing the same after talking to interest groups.
Critics say the rules promoted by Gov. Bill Ritter and approved by the Legislature have contributed to the downtown in the state's oil and gas industry. Ritter, who is seeking re-election, says the rules balance protection of the environment and public health and responsible energy development.
