FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — One fights with guns and one is armed with Bibles, but the U.S. Army and Salvation Army are teaming up to prepare food for community Thanksgiving dinners in Colorado Springs and other nearby towns.

About 30 soldiers and family members volunteered to work with Salvation Army staff in a Fort Carson dining hall starting Wednesday afternoon to prepare 4,500 dinners.

The meals will be delivered to six locations in the Colorado Springs area. Other soldiers and family members are volunteering to serve the meals.

The food is provided by the Salvation Army.

This is the 20th consecutive year Fort Carson soldiers have participated in the project.
