COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two masked suspects wielding handguns entered the Taco Bell Restaurant at 1750 N. Powers Blvd. Thursday night, forcing six employees into an office. It happened just after 8:30 p.m.
One man guarded the captives while the other escorted the on-duty manager at gunpoint, collecting cash and other valuables.
Both suspects were dressed in black hooded sweatshirts, black pants and black face masks.
One allegedly had a semi-automatic pistol, and the other, a revolver.
The suspects fled on foot to the west into a residential area near the business, according to the police report.
A Colorado Springs Police Department canine unit tracked the suspects and recovered some of the stolen monies that had been dropped in an open field by the still at-large suspects.
The investigation is continuing.
