COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- * In observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month Mayor Lionel Rivera and the Stop Family Violence Coalition are kicking off the "Open Doors Campaign" today. The campaign hopes to challenge the community to take a stand on the issue by "symbolically" opening doors designed by local artists. The doors will be on display throughout Colorado Springs for the next 4 to 6 weeks and will then be auctioned off. Today's kickoff ceremony is at 3 p.m. on the front steps of city hall. Last year, the E. Paso County Department of Human Services received more than 11,000 reports of child abuse, the highest number of calls in the state.
