COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Susan Saksa with Leadership Pikes Peak was a guest on Thursday, Oct. 8, on FOX21 Morning News to give details on the newly released Quality of Life Indicators report for the city of Colorado Springs.
The report lists nine area of study.
Saksa said the report studies 85 different indicators of the quality of life in a community. More than 180 volunteers worked on the study.
The audiences for the report, Saska explained, are people in decision-making positions, whether it be in the public or private sector.
Colorado Springs received gold stars for indicators, such as"
* It's an affordable place to live
* The military has a positive impact
* Numerous solved crime cases
* Emergency response times are good
* Local volunteerism is high.
However, on the other hand, "red flag" areas for Colorado Springs are:
* Slow-growing economy
* Primary jobs are on the decline
* It has the highest foreclosure increase in Colorado
* Highest rate of drug use in the state
* Motor vehicle fatalities have increased
