DENVER (AP) -- Denver wants to keep some 900 jobs at Frontier Airlines as it merges with its new owner. But city officials say budget woes mean they can't afford to offer many tax incentives to Republic Airways Holdings, which also owns Midwest Airlines.
Frontier has 900 jobs in Denver and about 4,000 in Colorado.
Republic is also reviewing incentive packages from its headquarters city of Indianapolis and Milwaukee, where Midwest is based.
Denver's package includes job-growth and job-retention incentives and wage and training subsidies. Those incentives are good only if Republic adds jobs.
Republic chief executive Bryan Bedford has said Denver's taxes make it too expensive to operate here.
