MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) -- The Montrose County commissioners have approved a conditional use permit for a proposed uranium mill in southwest Colorado.

Toronto-based Energy Fuels Inc. wants to build the mill 12 miles west of Naturita and about 225 miles southwest of Denver.

The mill still needs approval by state health officials before it can be built.

Proponents say the mill would help the economy. Opponents worry about the effects on the environment and public safety.
