Police seek suspects and a car that carried the shooter
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police Department has Monday ruled the Sunday morning shooting of a woman in a vehicle was a homicide.
Susana Pelayo Perez, 35, of Colorado Springs was shot in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 27 while she was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an unidentified male as it drove near the Shannon Glen Apartments, 220 N. Murray Blvd.
Police were called to Memorial Hospital Central's emergency room where Perez had been taken in a private vehicle. The victim died at the hospital.
It is the 17th homicide in the city this year, compared with 20 at this time in 2008, according to police.
Police seek a vehicle in the crime described as a newer model red or orange Jeep Cherokee. It is said to have been driven by a white male, 30-35 years old, bald with a short beard and moustache, wearing an unknown-colored hooded sweatshirt.
The passenger in this suspected vehicle, who is believed to be the shooter, is described as a white male, 30-35 years of age, bald with a short beard and moustache, wearing a plaid-style red-and-black-colored hooded sweatshirt.
The investigation is ongoing.
