WINTER PARK, Colo. (AP) -- Towns in Grand County are passing emergency measures to keep out medical marijuana dispensaries until they can approve regulations for them.
Winter Park Town Manager Drew Nelson says the town has received "quite a few" calls about opening the businesses. The town council last week passed a 90-day moratorium on the dispensaries.
Granby has imposed a 180-day moratorium to give the town time to approve laws for the businesses. Grand Lake and Fraser will consider similar proposals next week.
Colorado voters in 2000 approved the use of marijuana to treat certain illnesses, but the state doesn't license or regulate dispensaries.
About 9,000 people are registered in Colorado to use medical marijuana with a doctor's recommendation.
