DENVER (AP) -- Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and a Chinese trade official have signed an agreement to promote business investments.

Ritter and Yujing Zhang, who oversees machinery and electronic trade for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, signed the deal Thursday at the state Capitol.

Zhang is accompanied by representatives of about 30 Chinese companies, including renewable energy firms. They're scoping out Colorado as a possible location for new offices and plants.

They're part of a larger delegation that visited Phoenix this week. There, Arizona-based FirstSolar Inc. announced it had received initial approval from the Chinese government to build what may become the largest solar field in the world.
