America the Beautiful Park will be crowded with people walking for a cure this Saturday.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Did you know that diabetes kills one American every three minutes? Are you aware that 21 million Americans live with the disease every day? How about the fact a new person is told they have the disease every 30 seconds -- more than 2,800 people each day?
According to Sara Dunaj with the Colorado Springs Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, these numbers don't scare them away from fighting to find a cure. But finding a cure takes money -- and that's where you come in.
On Saturday, September 12, the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will kick off at 10 a.m. at America the Beautiful Park in downtown Colorado Springs. Check in starts at 9 a.m. For information or to register, click here.
In 2008, nearly 2,500 walkers raised $300,000 for research. This year, Dunaj said they are hoping to make those numbers grow in each category of attendance and money.
