Victims are new residents of Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A family that had recently moved to Colorado Springs was burglarized in their apartment Wednesday night about 10:30 when four suspects kicked in the door of their residence as the man and woman watched TV.
The suspects immediately attacked the man, according to police, as the woman tried to run for help. One of the suspects allegedly pulled her back into the apartment by her hair. One of the men was said to be using a baseball bat in the robbery.
The incident happened at 3358 W. Portal Dr. and was reported by a neighbor as it was in progress.
The couple's 1-year-old child was asleep in another room.
Officers arrived on the scene while the burglary was in progress and caught two of the suspects in the apartment complex. Police also discovered a suspect vehicle in the parking lot that had the victims' flat-screen television, a computer and an X-box in it.
The male victim's arm was seriously bruised by a baseball bat strike during the burglary.
Arrested for kidnapping, first-degree burglary and second-degree assault are Toby Chavez, 28, and Tyrone Moss, 28.
Two other suspects remain at large.
