ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) -- The owner of a former Kmart building in Alamosa thinks it would be a dandy location for a new city hall, library and police station.

City officials have expressed doubts but haven't completely ruled it out.

Developer Darin Dolce has offered to sell the city 37,000 square feet for $2.6 million. Dolce has said either he or the city could operate the remaining 54,000 square feet as a convention center and offices.

He plans to make a pitch to the City Council next week.

The council is considering a new home for City Hall and the library, which currently share a building. The library has outgrown its space, and much of City Hall isn't accessible to wheelchairs.
