Brad Schoeppey comes to D49
Brad Schoeppey is the new superintendent of Falcon School District.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Improving student achievement will be a primary focus this year as the Falcon School District gets started under new leadership.
District 49's new superintendent Brad Schoeppey comes to the community from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
While there, he significantly improved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) scores for schools in the district.
Schoeppey says a big part of that is setting clear goals and working together.
"You have to take an approach of listening to everyone, and getting everyone's input. It doesn't mean you are always going to make everybody happy. That's one of the things about being a superintendent is you have to make some tough decisions, and I base my decisions on what I think is best for kids," Schoeppey said.
Schoeppey said he isn't afraid of the challenge that comes with working in a district that has had six superintendents now in three years.
He says he hopes to stay in Falcon a long time.
