FLORENCE, Colo. (AP) -- The warden of the so-called Supermax prison that holds some of the country's most dangerous inmates is retiring.

Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman Traci Billingsley confirmed Monday that Warden Ron Wiley has announced his retirement effective Oct. 1, after 28 years of government service.

Inmates at Supermax in Florence include convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski. The prison also has been mentioned as a possible home for Guantanamo Bay detainees.
