NORWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Firefighters are focusing on protecting homes near a wildfire burning on 700 to 800 acres in southwestern Colorado.

Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Erin Curtis said Wednesday that engines are stationed near about 20 homes that were evacuated because of the fire. It's burning five miles northwest of Norwood in San Miguel County.

Curtis says crews are trying to prevent the fire from getting close to 20 other homes near the blaze.

The fire broke out Tuesday on public land but the cause isn't known. No structures have burned.

About 120 firefighters are fighting the fire, including two hotshot crews.

Full containment isn't expected until Friday.
